We only collect information that helps us provide and improve your experience on zen.vacations. This includes:
- Account information — your name and email address when you create an account
- Search queries — what you search for on the platform, so we can improve results
- Stay preferences — saved stays, filters, and preferences you set
- AI Concierge conversations — messages exchanged with our AI assistant to personalize recommendations
How we use your data
We use the information we collect for a few straightforward purposes:
- Account management — creating and maintaining your account, authenticating your sessions
- AI Concierge personalization — tailoring recommendations to your travel style and preferences
- Improving recommendations — understanding what travelers look for so we can surface better stays
- Communication — sending you important account updates (we don't send marketing emails)
We never sell your personal data. We never share it with advertisers. That's a promise.
Cookies and local storage
We keep things minimal. zen.vacations uses:
- Theme preference — stored in localStorage so the site remembers your light/dark mode choice
- Authentication token — stored in localStorage to keep you signed in between visits
We don't use tracking cookies. We don't use cookie banners because we don't need them.
Third-party services
We work with a small number of trusted services:
- GoatCounter — privacy-friendly analytics that don't use cookies and don't track individuals. We see page view counts, not personal data.
- Microsoft Azure — our cloud hosting provider, where your data is stored securely
- NestClaw AI — powers our AI Concierge for conversational stay discovery
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data (like overall search trends) may be retained to improve the platform.
AI Concierge conversation history is retained for up to 90 days to provide continuity in your interactions, after which it is automatically deleted.
